"I wish I could put handles on you and carry you around with me", I told my sister after she shared another pearl with me. Three thousand miles from friends and family, I missed my confidantes. I had moved to the West Coast by myself to pursue a dream. The adventure was exciting but I sure longed for those friends, our conversations, and just their presence.
Having a sister to cheer you on throughout the day
I started a couple years back writing down advice that really made an impact on me and stuff I had learned on this ride of life. I guess that was the birth of her— The Portable Sister. I wanted to give others the great gift I had been given: sweet souls whose kind, direct, even jarring words guided me to a more positive, full life. She touches on the topics of strength and healing; comfort and empowerment during trying times; health and beauty; practical, glama-rama advice; and guys: tales from the front with love being the ultimate goal. And don’t forget a good kick in the pants, those "gentle reminders" to get out of your head and back into life! Then for the eight-to-five grind, working girl, rooting you on to your destiny, with helpful tips including coworker self-defense, quick break-time escapes for those whose derriére is dragging, or longer reprieves for the girl on the go. Plus, fresh ideas for that stale commute. Finally, yet profoundly, stuff universal, err... stuff you just can’t go on without. When the Portable Sister gift book sold out, I thought it would be cool to offer encouragement on the web.
May this online sisterhood provide you with all these things and a couple of laughs, too. I know the Portable Sister will be a great pal. Can't wait to share, laugh and grow. So with that in mind... welcome to the family.
